THE USE OF CONE PENETRATION TESTING TO OBTAIN ENVIRONMENTAL DATA. PENETRATION TESTING IN THE UK. PROCEEDINGS OF THE GEOTECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY THE INSTITUTION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS AND HELD IN BIRMINGHAM ON 6-8 JULY 1988
The cone penetrometer has been used widely for site investigations associated with foundation design. The range of cone penetrometers now available, plus those developed specifically for environmental investigations, provides tools for detailed studies at contaminated sites in which the lateral and vertical extent plus the site potential to generate and transport contamination can be assessed.(A) For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 828222.
