CITIES ARE GOOD FOR US. THE CASE FOR HIGH DENSITIES, FRIENDLY STREETS, LOCAL SHOPS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT
This book describes the failure of town planning and national transport plans to rejuvinate town centres, and makes a case for better land use, urban housing and public transport. The theory of universal car ownership is shown to be false, as there will always be someone who does not own a car, and the futility of building yet more roads as a means of reducing traffic congestion discussed. Suggestions are made to improve matters, including better land use, improving public transport, and traffic restrain measures.
