FILL NOW OR PAY LATER

Many public agencies view crackfilling as a low-priority activity. However, judicious use of crackfilling can help cut down on costly road repairs. Before beginning a crackfilling program, it is necessary to conduct a pavement evaluation to determine the type of material required. Pavement type, crack size and types, personnel and equipment available, and whether to use hot or cold material are necessary considerations. Regardless of choice, the decision to start a crackfilling program is a major step in pavement rehabilitation that will dramatically increase the life of roads in any area.
