BUILDING TOGETHER: INVESTING IN COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE

This workbook is a guide for the analysis of community infrastructure needs and for identifying financing methods for new projects and the maintenance of existing facilities. It is designed to accommodate a variety of situations faced by local communities. Section A is an introduction to the workbook. Section B addresses the question "What is infrastructure and why is it important to your community?". The following sections are presented as Stages: Stage I - Convene the Working Group; Stage II - Determine Infrastructure Needs; Stage III - Assess Financial Resources; Stage IV - Make the Choice...Develop a Plan; and Stage V - Develop and Implement the Plan. Section C discusses getting the public involved. There are two appendices. Appendix I contains a discussion of regional coordination and financing of infrastructure. Appendix II contains a list of sources. A Glossary and Index are provided.
