TRAFFIC SAFETY PLAN IN ZOETERWOUDE

VERKEERSVEILIGHEIDSPLAN ZOETERWOUDE

Each city has the duty of making its traffic as safe as possible, but due to reduced financial resources, priorities must be established for actions. An example of the way in which priorities were determined in a small village in the Netherlands is presented. In addition to an inventory of accident data being drawn up the so called weak traffic participants were interviewed. An analysis is made of the complaints to the local authority on the lack of traffic safety. Together with the experience of the road administrator and the police, these data are measured and an urgency list of black spots is made. (TRRL)
