CONSTRUCTION OF "MEIKO-NISHI" BRIDGE

"Meiko-Nishi" Bridge was brought to completion in March, 1985 as the pioneering multi-cable-stayed bridge in Japan. The bridge is marked not only in its scale, but also in its design and construction methods. The bridge was completed after various technical problems involved with its construction had been solved through many numerical and experimental tests. This paper presents the features of the bridge, characteristic techniques for manufacturing and erection in which NKK was concerned and various experiments conducted in connection with the work.
