TRANSPORTATION RESOURCE MANAGEMENT FOR RURAL ELECTED OFFICIAL: RESOURCE NOTEBOOK

The notebook, developed for elected officials, provides an overview of techniques to increase the productivity and reduce or control the costs of local programs, using available financial resources. This overview includes general descriptions of the major transportation resource management techniques, and illustrative case studies that demonstrate the actual application of selected techniques by rural communities. Topics covered include plan development; priority setting; financing; contracting out local transportation services or functions; work force productivity improvement; equipment, facilities, and material management (asset management); and performance measurement and evaluation.
