ROAD TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION
The three main situations in which road tunnels are used are defined and the development of tunnelling techniques to meet these needs is described. The features particularly characteristic of road tunnels are noted, including requirements for ventilation and lighting. A description follows of the design and consturction of the subaqueous second Mersey Tunnel now being built.
