DEVELOPMENT OF AN ELIMINATION-BY-ASPECTS MODEL OF MODAL CHOICE

This report develops the functional form of the elimination- by-aspects model from a linear additive function of importances. A comparison of the two forms of the elimination-by-aspects model and the logit model in their ability to fit to a data set and sensitivity of predictions in a binary mode choice situation is undertaken. Conclusions are then drawn as to their suitability for use in modal choice modelling. This working paper is based upon a thesis completed as part of the author's master of engineering science program. (Author/TRRL)
