TIMETABLE OPTIMIZATION FOR RAPID TRANSIT RAILWAYS: A CONTRIBUTION TO ECONOMICAL OPERATION
For twenty years the Hamburger Hochbahn has been occupied with the problem of optimizing the operating costs of rapid transit railways. A concept was produced which takes into consideration all the factors which have an influence on the operating costs. This is described in the article, which also shows how the optimization of the timetables of existing rapid transit railways can be achieved.
