ONE TRANSIT AUTHORITY'S MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM
This article describes the maintenance management information system developed by the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (Alabama). The main objectives of the system were to control overall maintenance costs, develop specific maintenance costs per vehicle, and provide documentation for the development of maintenance payrolls. The system was credited with reducing overtime, improving training effectiveness, and reducing maintenance costs.
