ARTIFICIAL VENTILATION OF RAILWAY TUNNELS DURING CONSTRUCTION WORK
KUENSTLICHE BEWETTERUNG VON BAHNTUNNELS WAEHREND
When maintenance, drainage or track repair work is carried out in railway tunnels, the air is heavily laden with dust and exhaust fumes from the machines. To clean the air, the CFF uses a ventilator wagon. Measurements have been made to study the wagon's performance and air renewal capacity. Results have shown the advantages of this device, particularly in single-track tunnels, although some success has also been obtained in double-track tunnels. The design of the vehicle and the results of measurements are described in the article.
