HELPING DISABLED PEOPLE WITH TRAVELLING COSTS

The problems of increasing travelling costs in maintaining the mobility of UK disabled travellers are examined. Registered severely disabled persons, unable to use public or private transport, are able to obtain financial assistance towards taxi fares. For disabled persons able to drive, car purchase and parking allowances and concessions are available. Similarly, special concessionary fare structures are offered on rail and bus services for persons receiving a mobility allowance. (TRRL)
