NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN CONCRETING PLANT WHICH TRAVELS ON TRACKS

NEUE ENTWICKLUNGEN BEI SCHIENENGEFUEHRTEN GERAETEN FUER DEN BETONEINBAU

In the construction of concrete pavements the choice of a single- or double layer method of construction is influenced only by the regionally varying construction costs. Current rules on the constructional details of the slab permit optimum utilisation of equipment. Using some examples, the development of such equipment is illustrated. The use of a side deliverer across the central reservation makes it possible to dispense with access ramps. The shunting time of the concrete skip-distributor is less. Tracked finishers for bituminous road construction permit good distribution and high output. Submerged vibrating finishers are hardly ever used now. Dowel-setting machines are equipped with storage magazines and automatic coating and permit dowels to be vibrated 10 cm deep into the compacted concrete. Formwork is still very labour intensive. For fixing and removing the forms release-techniques are of importance. The development of formwork transporters and the rationalisation of the shuttering removal process show ways of reducing labour costs. However, efforts to simplify the formwork operations have only produced little success to date. (TRRL)
