ECOLOGICAL IMPACT OF A MOTORWAY IN A PARTICULAR ENVIRONMENT: THE SOLOGNE REGION

L'IMPACT ECOLOGIQUE D'UNE AUTOROUTE DANS UN MILIEU PARTICULIER: LA SOLOGNE

For several years research workers at the institut d'Ecologie Appliquee (Institute of Applied Ecology) of orleans, have studied, at the request of different bodies attached to the Ministere de l'Equipement (Ministry of Supply), the impact of several lengths of motorway on the natural environment traversed. Such research, having essentially practical and applied objectives, has not always allowed all aspects of a highly complex problem with numerous implications to be envisaged. Also it was particularly important to carry out an exhaustive and mainly multidisciplinary study, independent of any final objective, in order to determine as accurately as possible the exact reality of the ecological impact of a motorway.
