AN ACCOUNT OF THE PATHOGENESIS AND CLINICAL ASPECTS OF POST-TRAUMATIC EMBOLISMS
BEITRAG ZUR PATHOGENESE UND KLINIK DER POSTTRAUMATISCHEN FETTEMBOLIE
After a discussion of the historical, pathological, physiological and clinical aspects of the condition of "post-traumatic embolism" the authors proceed to deal with the prophylactic and therapeutic possibilities. A clinical example (traffic accident) serves to demonstrate the problems and the treatment. In immediately post-mortem biopsies of lung tissue it has been possible by optical and electron microscopy to identify changes in the state of artificially induced embolisms, so that in the course of time it may be possible to establish a correlation between these animal experiments and clinical observations.
