CYCLOIDAL COMPACTION AND RESULTS OF TESTS ON THE A26 MOTORWAY

LE COMPACTAGE CYCLOIDAL ET RESULTATS D'ESSAIS SUR L'AUTOROUTE A26

The authors recall the problems facing vibrating compactor manufacturers: reduction in compaction costs and improvement in quality. The cost of the equipment can be lowered by increasing its sturdiness and reducing maintenance costs. Labour costs can be reduced by using the solution put forward by the firm albaret: cycloidal compaction. Details are given of the tests carried out at the road research centre in Rouen and on motorway sections on the a34, a36 and a10. Results are discussed. (TRRL)
