TRAFFIC EDUCATION IN THE SECONDARY GRADE. PART 1 - ANALYSIS OF THE SITUATION AND CONCLUSIONS

Results are given of the BAST project which was concerned with school traffic education in the secondary grade. The project group collated the objectives contained in specifications, teaching plans and instruction manuals on traffic education, looked at the objective from a psychological and traffic viewpoint, and highlighted the main problems associated with the current practice of traffic education. Proposals are made for weighting the teaching targets, and hints given for the improvement of these targets. The need for more research and development is indicated. (TRRL)
