ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IN A SHIPYARD
The Author, of the Stralsund shipyard in East Germany, gives a brief account of tests carried out on four types of oil-boom. The tests were made to determine the suitability of the booms for preventing oil spillage escaping from the shipyard into the waters outside, and to ascertain their capability of withstanding the water and other local conditions for lengthy periods. The tests provided valuable information on the design of oil-booms for this purpose and for other applications. Order from BSRA as No. 51,724.
