Effectiveness of Newsletters with Infographics Used in Public Involvement Processes
This study investigated the effectiveness of infographics in public notice documents through eye tracker experiments. Pupil diameter assists in determining a participant’s attention to a specific object. Typically, pupils unconsciously expand in response to stimulation due to participants’ interest and excitement. Measuring the pupil diameter of participants reading newsletters with and without infographics, the authors found larger pupil diameters in the case where infographics were present. Statistical t-tests confirmed that the difference was significant. Therefore, it can be found that an increase in the interest of the newsletter’s contents by using infographics can attract readers.
