The Power of Inclusion
For people with visual, hearing, cognitive, and mobility disabilities, inadequate access to transportation options can adversely affect their quality of life. The Federal Highway Administration's Accessible Transportation Technologies Research Initiative (ATTRI) leads efforts to research, develop, and implement transformative solutions, applications, and systems. ATTRI focuses on four applications: smart wayfinding and navigation; pre-trip planning and visualization; shared use, automation and robotics; and, safe intersection crossings. This article describes the program and how FHWA is partnering with other agencies, research institutions and other organizations to develop and deliver solutions.
