Commercial Driver Perspectives on Obstructive Sleep Apnea
This document looks at the results of a survey administered by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) investigating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)-related issues. Two surveys were distributed, one to commercial drivers who had participated in a sleep study and one to those who had not participated in a sleep study. In total 822 drivers completed one of the two surveys. Information collected included demographics, carrier OSA policies, perceived prevalence of OSA, estimates of sleep study and continuous positive air pressure (CPAP) machine costs, actual out-of-pocket costs, OSA risk factors, knowledge of potential untreated OSA consequences, OSA diagnoses, treatment options, treatment effects, and driver opinions of OSA guidelines.
