Tracking down the origin of squats
The understanding of squat-type rolling contact fatigue has been increased by joint research between various companies in the railroad industry, and this research is leading to possible measures to reduce such future cracking development. This joint investigation is an example of what can be achieved when rail suppliers, maintenance contractors and infrastructure managers work together as a team to contribute to research into rail defects.
