Inter-Regional Analysis of Travel Behavior in Shanghai: Combined RP/SP Nested Logit Model
Through the survey on the travel behavior of passengers in Shanghai, a combined Revealed Preference/State Preference (RP/SP) Nested Logit model established in this paper using discrete choice theory. Model parameter calibrations and sensitivity analyses are carried out to qualitatively and quantitatively investigate the passengers’ choice for public transport modes in different regions and corresponding influencing factors. The spatial transferability of the model is then studied. The proposed model is analyzed and verified by case studies. The results show that the travel behaviors of passengers in different regions depend on a variety of factors with different degrees of impact. The preference of passengers for transport modes varies greatly with regions. Specially, their choices of transport modes show different sensitivities even to the same influencing factor. Relying on data collection, modeling, parameter calibration and simulation, the paper provides a method of analyzing travel behavior of inter-regional passengers, which may be a useful method and reference for future urban public transport planning and improvement.
