Automated and Autonomous Driving: Regulation under Uncertainty
Manufacturers are incorporating more automation into vehicles and there are varying levels of automation in vehicles now on the road. As more technologies are employed, there may be improvements in safety, mobility, and the environment. At the same time, many questions remain regarding privacy, legal responsibility, and safety. Government agencies and other institutions will have to devise policies to cover automated and fully autonomous vehicles. This report examines the technologies, legal implications, adoption strategies and other issues which authorities will need to consider when devising regulations under uncertainty.
