THE PHYSICAL LANDSCAPE IN PICTURES

This book is an attempt to illustrate the main features of the natural or physical landscape by means of a carefully chosen series of photographs. The text has deliberately been kept as short and elementary as possible, and is intended mainly to introduce, comment upon, supplement, and where necessary explain the illustrations. Nevertheless, because these have been selected to cover as widely as possible the recognized course of work, the text also is complete in itself. Topics for the illustrated chapters are The Earth, Earth Movements. Vulcanicity, Weathering and Soils, Limestone and Chalk Country, Rivers, Glaciation, Lakes, Deserts, Coastlines, and Vegetation.
