Ice Gouging Study - Actions and Action Effects
This paper presents results of the study addressing actions and action effects under ice gouging. Numerical models were developed to investigate the ice gouging process with focus on gouge depth determination. The models were validated against available physical experiments. The obtained results were exercised in a probabilistic mode and results were compared with those available from the repetitive seabed mapping. Subgouge soil deformations were studied in different numerical models and a parametric study was conducted to investigate their possibilities and limitations. Coupled and decoupled 3D analyses of the keel-soil-pipeline interaction were also performed. Conclusions are outlined in the end of the article.
