CalVans: As Easy Ride to the Hard Work on a Farm
Not only an urban solution, vanpools can offer rural areas cost-effective public transportation, as Section 5311 operators, as chronicled in this article. A series of vans travel across California's Central Valley as part of the California Vanpool Authority's CalVans program. They are provided by the state as a reliable and easy-to-use mechanism to connect agricultural workers to farming sites and housing locations across the fertile agricultural region.
