Products Liability and Driverless Cars: Issues and Guiding Principles for Legislation
This paper looks at liability issues surrounding autonomous vehicles. It argues that current products liability law is, in general, flexible enough to address driverless cars without the introduction of new statutes. It also addresses the question of liability as an impediment towards the manufacturing and adoption of autonomous vehicles. Guiding principles to keep in mind when considering future liability legislation are suggested.
