Social Feedback System for Promoting General Citizens to Change Their Travel Behavior using the CO₂ Information System
For reducing carbon dioxide (CO₂) emission from road traffics, the authors are constructing a system to prompt general citizens to perform eco-friendly travel behavior by distributing and showing the "Regional Transport Information", taking advantage of information and communication technologies. The traffic situations are observed by using existing monitoring cameras etc., and the whole situation is estimated by interpolation. From this, CO₂ emission is calculated, visualized with VR/MR technology, and displayed to the citizens through information devices. In Dec. 2012, the field operation test started in Kashiwa City to explore how their travel behavior changes from usual by this system.
