Optimization of the Monitoring by Analysis of Road Traffic Information
Road traffic information which the Vehicle Information and Communication System (VICS) Center provides for drivers varies with differing factors and phenomena. The suitability of measures to deal with the rapid increase in information on restrictions due to typhoon landings, heavy rainstorms, and other such major weather changes, in particular, have a significant influence on the assurance of quality in provided information. An information monitoring system was built to provide real-time anomaly warnings when data volume changes (hereafter "information changes") exceed thresholds for notification of anomalous conditions. This research involved pattern analysis of trends and factors in information changes. Those results were then combined with statistics of received information and incorporated in monitoring threshold values, and response measures when anomaly warnings were generated were categorized. As a result, it was confirmed that optimization had occurred in major information change detection of the kind needed to maintain and upgrade the quality of provided information.
