Full-Scale Accelerated Loading Test for Load Distribution on Subgrade due to CFA Stabilized Base
On-site recycling of asphalt pavement with Cement Foamed-Asphalt (CFA) can repair existing pavement to produce newly durable pavement. The reasons might be the increase of strength of base course and the reduction of stress or strain on subgrade due to the load distribution of CFA stabilized base, however they have not been determined quantitatively on-site. So the durability and the load distribution capacity of CFA stabilized base with powdery and slurried cement was evaluated using soil pressure and vertical strain on the top of subgrade at full-scale accelerated loading test. As a result, CFA stabilized base was able to reduce both soil pressure and vertical strain that occur on the top of subgrade, because it increased the angle of load distribution and enhanced the load distribution capacity. The paper found that CFA stabilized base contribute to the reduction of subgrade damage and the prolongation of the pavement life on rutting.
