Long-Term Structural Performance Monitoring of Bridges: Hardware Maintenance and, Long-term Data Collection/Analysis
A description of the maintenance of the sensor monitoring systems installed on three California highway bridges is presented. The monitoring systems consist of accelerometers, strain gauges, pressure sensors, and displacement sensors. Based on the measured sensor data under traffic and seismic excitations, the research team established baseline models of the bridges, and developed methodologies for structural health monitoring and damage assessment. In order to improve the efficiency and reliability of data acquisition, the research team has repaired and maintained the existing data acquisition systems.
