Crack Damage Mitigation of Shear-Dominant RC Beams Patching--Repaired with SHCCs
This paper provides the strain hardening cement composites (SHCCs) patch-repair method of reinforced concrete beams under high shear stress for improving the crack damage mitigation. The method made an application of strain hardening cement composites to limit the surface crack widths of shear-dominant RC beams. The spray type SHCC is used as a substitution for concrete material that surrounds the shear reinforcements in normal reinforced concrete beams under earthquake loads. Five specimens were prepared for the experimental program: one control RC beam, one SHCC patch-repaired beams that were replaced cover concrete by SHCCs. Experimental results indicated that crack widths and number under service loads could be limited to values never before achieved using conventional repair materials.
