Public attitudes towards climate change and the impacts of transport

This article summarises people's attitudes to the environment and climate change in relation to transport in the United Kingdom. This survey will be repeated in the future to monitor changes in attitudes over time. The questions were designed to explore the following issues: 1. levels of public concern about the environment and climate change; 2. public knowledge about the causes and consequences of climate change; 3. views on the potential for behavioural change to reduce the impacts of climate change; 4. public understanding of the contribution of transport to climate change; 5. levels of support for a range of policy options to reduce transport emissions and views on the respective responsibilities of individuals and government; 6. the extent to which concern about climate change has the potential to influence travel behaviour.
