DRIVERLESS UNATTENDED METRO SOLUTIONS: THE ANSWER TO THE CURRENT AND FUTURE NEEDS OF URBAN MOBILITY
Within the urban public transport sector the significant increasing of transport demand, passengers requirements in terms of service comfort, efficiency and punctuality and the restricted budgets of regional and local Authorities to operate the mass transit infrastructures, oblige the local Authorities and the Operators to steer towards transportation systems offering at first a very high-quality, attractive, safe and reliable service as a real alternative to the private cars to answer to the passengers requirements and at second, as staff represent a significant part of the costs of running a metro system, at a low operating costs. The Driverless Unattended Metro (UTO) is an opportunity to improve both service performance and economic efficiency and at the same time to satisfy both Operators and Passengers needs
