SEA ICE CONDITIONS IN THE COOK INLET, ALASKA DURING THE 1971-72 WINTER

Data and photographs are used as aids in describing the sea ice conditions in Cook Inlet, Alaska during the 1971-1972 winter. Persistent below normal temperatures during January, February and March of 1972, resulted in a long and rough ice year. There was a near normal accumulation of frost degree days during November and December, and a steady increase in the accumulated frost degree days through January, February and March. The Inlet was not ice free until the middle of May. (Author)
