EVALUATION OF DATA
FOUR SITUATIONS OF CONCERN IN DATA EVALUATION ARE DISCUSSED' /1/ ESTIMATING POPULATION PARAMETERS FROM SAMPLE DATA, WITH A SPECIFIED PROBABILITY OF BEING RIGHT /OR WRONG/, /2/ COMPARING MEANS OR VARIANCES OR BOTH FROM TWO OR MORE SETS OF DATA TO DETERMINE IF SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE EXIST BETWEEN OR AMOUNG THE SETS, /3/ PROVIDING A BASIS FOR ACCEPTING OR REJECTING A MATERIAL, AND /4/ DEVELOPING FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS AMONG TWO OR MORE VARIABLES. BASIC STATISTICAL CONCEPTS ARE INTRODUCED FOR USE IN THESE FOUR SITUATIONS. THESE STATISTICAL CONCEPTS ARE' UNIVERSE, POPULATION, SAMPLE, RANDOMNESS, NORMAL DISTRIBUTION, STATISTICAL INFERENCE AND CONTROL CHARTS. REGRESSION METHODS ARE USE TO DETERMINE THE BEST FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIP AMONG THE VARIABLES.
