ADDITIVES FOR DECREASING THE SHRINKAGE OF PORTLAND CEMENT
APPLICABILITY OF EXPANSIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF SINTERED MAGNESIUM OXIDE AND DOLOMITE /SINTERING TEMPERATURE' 900-1300 DEGREES/ WAS TESTED FOR CEMENT MORTAR AND CONCRETE TO DECREASE THE SHRINKAGE DURING THE HARDING PROCESS OF PORTLAND CEMENT. ADDITION OF FIVE PARTS OF THE DOLOMITE / MAXIMUM DIAMETER OF THE GRAIN' 70-80 MU/ SINTERED AT 1300 DEGREES TO NINETY-FIVE PARTS OF THE CEMENT WAS SATISFACTORY FOR THE PURPOSE. THIS DECREASING EFFECT OF THE DOLOMITE WAS FURTHERED IMPROVED BY REPLACING TWENTY PARTS OF THE CEMENT WITH FLY ASH. SINTERED MAGNESIUM OXIDE WAS LESS EFFECTIVE AS THE ADDITIVE FOR DECREASING SHRINKAGE OF CEMENT. /AUTHOR/
