THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF COLD PRE-COATING PROCESS (IN PORTUGUESE)
THE BINDING OF MATERIAL AGGREGATES IS STUDIED. AN ATTEMPT IS MADE TO DEFINE THE RANGE OF VISCOSITY WITHIN WHICH OPTIMA BINDING CONDITIONS ARE ACHIEVED. WARM-COATED ASPHALTIC CONCRETE AND COLD PRE-COATED ASPHALTIC CONCRETE WERE SHOWN TO BE EQUIVALENT AND A METHOD OF PROPORTIONING, BASED ON THIS EQUIVALENCE IS PROPOSED. THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS INTO COLD PRE-COATED PROCESSES ARE DESCRIBED AND DIRECTIONS FOR SPREADING ARE OUTLINED, BASED ON SIMPLE TESTS ON THE BULK DENSITY OF BITUMINOIS MATERIALS. DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF THE CONSTRUCTION AND PERFORMANCE OF A 750M EXPERIMENTAL SECTION. /LCPC/RRL/
