The first section includes information on: the solar system; earth's motion; the moon's motion; the stars; time; the celestial sphere; and instruments and sextant angles. The second section includes information on: latitude by meridian altitude, azimuth and amplitude; ex-meridian altitudes; the Pole Star; the Celestial Position Lines; three methods of sight reduction; and fixing position.
