A GUIDE TO ASSESS THE OPERATIONAL IMPLICATIONS OF NEW SHIP DESIGN CONCEPTS. PART II

The report is the second interim report on ONR-sponsored research to develop analytical methods for the evaluation of future high-performance ship design concepts. In the report, a demonstration of selected analytical techniques is described for a hydrofoil concept to be employed in the general ASW mission area. A deterministic computer model was developed to accept basic platform design parameters and compute the platform's ability to conduct a specific mission profile. Extensive sensitivity analyses are included (for demonstration purposes) and evaluated for utility in concept evaluation. Emphasis is placed on the adaptability of the approach to other concepts and other parametric design models. (Author Modified Abstract)
