CAPITAL STOCK MEASURES FOR TRANSPORTATION. PROJECTIONS OF INVESTMENT NEEDS - VOLUME III
The study presents projections of investment needs for the major transportation modes for the period 1971-1980. The estimates are derived by independently projecting capital/output ratios and expected output. As such, the projections are indicative of capital needs to maintain quality of service and do not reflect marked changes in technology or financial restrictions. Specifically, it is assumed that the funds necessary to purchase the capital are available from either internal or external financial sources. A discussion of the reliability of the projection approach and a description of the computer program which was used to develop the capital stock measures are also included in the report. (Author)
