PROPERTIES OF GREEN AND YOUNG CONCRETE: COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH, DEFORMATION, AND WATER LOSS
THE GREEN COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH IS INFLUENCED DOMINANTLY BY THE AMOUNT OF COMPACTION OF THE MIX AND BY THE CONTENTS OF WATER AND CEMENT. MAXIMUM STRENGTHS OF ABOUT 5 KGF/CM SQUARED ARE ATTAINED. CONCRETES OF HIGH GREEN STRENGTH DEVELOPED COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH QUICKER AT EARLY AGES THAN CONCRETES HAVING THE SAME CEMENT CONTENT BUT WITH LITTLE OR NO GREEN COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH. TESTS REPORTED SHOW THAT YOUNG CONCRETE PASSES THROUGH A CRITICAL PHASE IN WHICH IT IS VERY SUSCEPTIBLE TO DEFORMATION. EVAPORATION OF WATER FROM THE SURFACE OF SUCH CONCRETE IS PRIMARILY INFLUENCED BY WIND SPEED, R H AND TEMPERATURE, BUT IT IS INDEPENDENT OF THE COMPOSITION OF THE MIX. /AUTHOR/
