AGE-STRENGTH RELATIONSHIP OF CONCRETE
A SERIES OF COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AND FLEXURAL TESTS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT IN LAGOS ON CONCRETE CUBES, CYLINDERS AND BEAMS TO DETERMINE THE AGE-STRENGTH RELATIONSHIP OF CONCRETE AT VARIOUS WATER/CEMENT RATIOS. ORDINARY PORTLAND CEMENT (ELEPHANT BRAND), ARO RIVER GRAVEL, AND OGUN RIVER SHARP SAND WERE USED IN THE INVESTIGATION. THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE IN A HOT HUMID TROPICAL CLIMATE INCREASES WITH AGE UP TO A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS, AND THAT BOTH THE CYLINDER STRENGTH, AND FLEXURAL STRENGTH WERE RELATED TO THE CORRESPONDING CUBE STRENGTH. /AUTHOR/
