STRESS DISTRIBUTION AROUND AN ELLIPTIC HOLE IN AN INFINITE MICROPOLAR ELASTIC PLATE
The problem of stress distribution in an infinite micropolar plate, weakened by an elliptic hole, subject to a constant uniform tension at infinity perpendicular to the major axis of the elliptic hole is solved. The stress distribution is plotted along the direction of the major axis of the ellipse and stress concentration factors are determined for various material parameters and eccentricities. The results are compared with those of classical elasticity and couple stress theory.
