COMPARISONS OF EMPTY AND GROSS WEIGHTS OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
A COMPARISON OF EMPTY AND GROSS WEIGHTS OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES IS BEING UNDERTAKEN TO ESTABLISH A UNIFORM WEIGHT CLASSIFICATION BASE TO BE USED FOR RESEARCH AND PLANNING OF FUTURE HIGHWAYS. REGISTERED GROSS WEIGHTS OF VEHICLES AND LOADOMETER STUDIES DATA FOR CALIFORNIA WERE USED FOR THE STUDY. THE ANALYSIS REVEALED THAT IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO DEVELOP WEIGHT RELATIONSHIPS FROM THE PRESENT REGISTRATION DATA.
