SYSTEM FOR PLANNING LOCAL AIR SERVICE
Local air service is characterized by a strong sensitivity of traffic to a number of factors such as frequency, time of departure, trip time, and alternative transportation available by ground modes. Consequently, in planning local air service, the demand function and the scheduling constraints must be considered in more detail than is necessary with other types of air transportation. This paper presents a system developed at the University of Pittsburgh for planning local air service. The system was used in studying the potential of air service between the provincial capitals of Austria. /Author/
