Developing an optimised resource allocation framework in a transport network based on reliability
This paper discusses the need for optimizing resource allocation on the basis of the reliability of a transport network. For this purpose, an optimisation framework is developed to efficiently assign the resources to maximise the network reliability. Two measures are identified for each link. Each link may have several states of degradation. The effect of degradation in a link on the network is also considered. This optimization problem is formulated as integer programming and tackled by implementing an efficient and effective technique. The proposed framework is applied to an example network and numerical results are presented.
