Evolutionary vehicle-to-vehicle communications with brake light and computer vision for driver assistance
This paper proposes a new concept of the inter-vehicle communications consisting of the brake light of a preceding vehicle and a computer vision in a following vehicle for transmission of the behaviour or intention of the preceding to the following. The brake light includes red LEDs detectable by both a human driver and a computer vision and infrared LEDs detectable by only a computer vision. The feature of the system is the compatibility between the current system and the system proposed here. Indoor experiments with a breadboard system and some results show the potential of the system.
